Changing for your MRI isn’t just routine—it’s an important part of MRI safety. It helps protect you during the exam and ensures your images are clear and accurate.
MRI machines use very powerful magnets. Even small amounts of metal—like zippers, snaps, or hooks—or tiny metallic fibers hidden in your clothing (often not listed on the label) can heat up or be pulled by the magnet. These fibers can’t always be detected by our metal detectors.
Metals can also interfere with your scan, showing up as black or blurry spots on the images. This can make it harder for the radiologist to see clearly and give an accurate diagnosis.
