Contact a Radiologist

Reading Room Coordinators

Our Reading Room Coordinators (RRC) ensure all communication requests to and from radiologists are relayed and connected appropriately to allow radiologists to focus on their primary interpretive and clinical tasks.

The goal is to increase the quality of patient care and extend radiologists’ presence in the clinical setting through minimizing interruptions during study interpretation and streamlining proper communication for our radiologists.

Assistance We Can Provide

The Reading Room Coordinators work to alleviate the barriers in being connected to a radiologist in order to provide the highest quality of care for our patients and ensure the best experience with Weill Cornell Imaging at New York-Presbyterian.

Our team ensures that all referring providers are given the opportunity to speak directly with any of our radiologists across all divisions to review any imaging, final reports, and discuss best suitable clinical follow-up to increase quality of patient care and maintain a seamless patient experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can a Reading Room Coordinator assist me?

RRCs can assist with connecting you to a radiologist to review prior imaging, discuss finalized results, follow up on imaging subsequently, report clarification or to request an addendum.

Q: How quickly can I be connected to a radiologist?

If it is an urgent matter, a provider will be connected to the reading radiologist or appropriate covering radiologist. For all other matters, the radiologist will be connected to the provider typically within 24 business hours (subject to longer depending on the radiologist’s schedule).

Q: What if the radiologist who read the report is not available?

If the radiologist who read the report is not available, they will contact the provider within 24 business hours. If it is an urgent matter, the provider will be connected to the appropriate covering radiologist to assist.

Q: What if no one answers the Reading Room Coordinator line?

The line is kept open for urgent requests when the line is staffed during normal coverage hours (Mon-Fri 8AM-12AM & Sat-Sun 8AM-5PM). However, we can be emailed at wc-rrc@med.cornell.edu or messaged through EPIC Secure Chat for all other requests if the line is occupied.
