Healthcare with Purpose: Our Community-First Approach

At Weill Cornell Imaging at NewYork-Presbyterian, healthcare means showing up for the people we serve, both inside and outside of the exam room. From providing high-quality imaging, increasing access to health screenings, supporting and inspiring young minds, everything we do reflects our goal of putting the community first.
Expanding Access to Preventive Care
We believe healthcare should be both high-quality and highly accessible. In 2023, we launched our first Breast Health Screening Fair, offering mammograms and health education to the residents of Lower Manhattan. In 2024, that effort grew into a broader Community Health and Screening Fair in Brooklyn, at the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center. The event brought together volunteers, expert speakers, and 16 local partners to provide free screenings and wellness resources.
We are happy to announce our Community Health and Screening Fair will be taking place again this year at the same location. New to the event is our Health Screening Van providing CT Lung Screenings on-site. Flu shots will also be available for free, along with free food pantry items and more! Events like these allow our radiologists to take on another critical role as community educators—sharing resources, answering questions, and empowering patients to take charge of their health.
Creating Impact Beyond Medicine
Healthcare doesn’t begin and end within the walls of a clinic. Through community outreach, we address common social factors that influence health outcomes. Our employees work toward raising awareness and money for a multitude of charities. These efforts highlight the power of medical professionals uniting around a shared purpose: addressing the root causes that affect long-term health and well-being.
Inspiring the Future
We’re also planting seeds for a healthier future by engaging the next generation. Through our partnership with local schools and clubs, we bring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning to life for local students. With interactive sessions on medical imaging, we help foster curiosity, build confidence, and offer early exposure to careers in STEM.
Looking Ahead
Our department’s mission is clear: to care with compassion, educate with purpose, and lead with equity. We’ll continue working to close gaps, inspire change, and deepen the trust we’ve built in the communities that support us. Because for us, community isn’t a checkbox—it’s the foundation of everything we do.
