FAQs

Find answers to common questions about lung screenings, eligibility, and what to expect from your visit.

How often should I get a lung screen?

Lung screens are recommended every year for individuals who meet eligibility criteria.

I do not think I am eligible for a lung screen. What else can I do?

Please reach out to us if you have questions about eligibility for lung screens. Quitting smoking and avoiding secondhand smoke are important for decreasing your risk of developing lung cancer.

Is the Health Screening Van wheelchair accessible?

No, patients will need to climb 6 steps to enter and exit the unit. We offer wheelchair accessible scans at our fixed imaging locations in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. When you call to schedule an appointment, our patient coordinators will help you find the best location for you.

I am ready to quit smoking, can you help?

We offer individual counseling via phone or video visits with nurse practitioners, who are trained as Tobacco Treatment Specialists (TTS). Our goal is to help people quit and stay quit through an evidence-based approach. Treatment typically involves:

  • 1 Intake Session - to determine if this is the best program for you, and give you the opportunity to ask questions

  • 3-6 Treatment Sessions - to get you the help you need, including developing skills to quit and stay quit

  • Follow-up Sessions - to increase your chances of staying quit permanently
